New Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Failing To File Tax Returns

A professional tax preparer from New Hartford has pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to file his personal federal income tax returns for the tax years 2012 to 2015.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 53-year old James Becker admitted that he was required to file tax returns in those years and that he willfully failed to do so despite being a professional tax preparer who filed hundreds of tax returns for other people.

Becker will be sentenced on September 16th.

He faces up to one year in prison and up to a $100,000 fine on each of the four counts to which he plead guilty
