A local Pharmacist says he is not closing his doors and his customer accounts have not been transferred.

Bob Black, who owns and operates Randall's Pharmacy in New Hartford, says a letter from a large national chain pharmacy was sent to all of his customers this week.  The letter claimed they had acquired Randall's Pharmacy on Genesee Street and that customer accounts had been transferred to their chain stores.

Black says there is no sale, his customers are still his customers and the letter was a corporate error by the national chain.

Black said the conglomerate contacted him several months ago claiming they wanted to purchase his business.  He said despite the fact that there was no sale, the chain store sent out a mass mailer informing people that they had acquired the business.

“Somebody at their corporate level apparently made a mistake and fired off this letter as if they had swallowed up my business,” said Black.  “I’m assuming that this is what they do when they go in and take over a locally owned pharmacy; but, I never sold my business.”

He's chosen not to mention the name of the national chain for fear that it would only confuse people further.
