New York Gives Foster Families Chance To Camp For Free
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state has given hundreds of foster families a chance to camp for free.
The state sent out 500 camping gift cards and Empire Passes to foster families around New York. The $80 gift cards can cover a two-night stay at a state campsite or supplies from the state parks department. The Empire Pass is for day-use vehicle entry into state parks and recreation facilities.
State officials say the passes are a way to thank the families that care for the 16,500 children in foster care in New York.
