The New York State unemployment rate has dropped to its lowest level in over seven years.

The New York State Department of Labor says the statewide unemployment rate fell from 5.2% 5.1 percent in September.  That's the lowest level since April 2008.

Meanwhile, the state added 11,400 private sector jobs in September.

Since the beginning of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration, New York’s economy has added 711,400 private sector jobs and experienced employment growth in 49 of the past 57 months.
