As the effort to build a new hospital in downtown Utica progresses, the group opposing the location of the proposed $480 million project isn't giving up the fight. And, they don't want to be convinced otherwise.

Brett Truett, co-founder of the #NoHospitalDowntown group, has recently turned down a chance to meet with hospital officials to further discuss the project. Mohawk Valley Health System Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer Robert Scholefield wrote Truett offering a meeting and saying, 'It would be helpful for me to have a better understanding, and I may be able to do so outside of a public forum.' (Full exchange here according to Truett at his no hospital downtown site).

Truett's response read, in part:

''There is little reason to talk further, and I've arrived at this place after a tremendous amount of research, thought, and first hand experiences...

...My money and energy is and will continue to be 100% dedicated to protecting Downtown Utica against an inner-city hospital district, or as your PR and reputation management teams like to say, a "Healthcare Campus".
As we've have discussed previously with Truett - he joined us WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning on Friday - he does not believe building the hospital downtown is the best use of that land (see video).
