NY Man Gets Prison Time For Crash That Killed Pedestrian

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A 42-year-old upstate New York man has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for hit-and-run crashes that killed one pedestrian and injured another.

The Times Union of Albany reports (http://bit.ly/2e9VdJ4 ) that Adimu Goodwin was sentenced Wednesday by state Supreme Court Justice Frank Milano in Schenectady (skeh-NEHK'-ta-dee). Before sentencing, the mother of victim Jerry Faine told the judge Goodwin left her son "like a piece of trash that flew off his car."

Goodwin was found guilty of assault and manslaughter in August in the crashes that killed 29-year-old Faine and injured a 61-year-old man. He faced up to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Goodwin hit Faine while fleeing after hitting the other man. Faine was dragged 500 feet before Goodwin ditched his van and ran into a cemetery.
