
NYS Tax Department Announces 160 Million Sheets Of Paper Saved By E-filing
In recognition of Earth Day, the State Department of Taxation and Finance is announcing that e-filing taxes is helping to save paper.
Commissioner of taxation and finance Thomas Mattox announced that e-filing is saving 160 million sheets of paper annually.
Mattox says of the 23.7 million tax returns, 16 million - or 70% are filed electronically.
The department has also reduced its own paper consumption 37% over the last three years, saving $260,000 annually.
