LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities are using marine patrols to again block off an Adirondack lake's bay popular with boaters to prevent a party from happening.

State and local agencies that patrol Lake George are blocking access Monday to Log Bay, on the 32-mile long waterway's eastern shore.

Officials for the second straight year are turning away boaters from the bay where the raucous Log Bay Day party had been held for years. The annual gathering held on the last Monday in July attracted hundreds of boaters who spent the day paryting in the bay's shallow water.

Two years ago, an impaired boater who attended the party collided with another recreational vessel, killing an 8-year-old vacationing California girl and injuring her mother.

Authorities also closed off the bay last year on the accident's one-year anniversary.
