An Oriskany woman was killed on Saturday evening in Whitestown after a deer, struck by another vehicle, came crashing through her windshield.

Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol says that 53-year-old Karen Liles was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, a mini-van driven by 31-year-old Erin Geddes of Rome was traveling west on Judd Road at about 6:30 p.m. when it struck a deer that entered the roadway.  The deer was thrown up in the air and into oncoming east-bound traffic and into the path of a Subaru driven by Liles.  Police say the deer crashed through the windshield and into the driver.

A passenger in the Liles vehicle, 56-year-old Arden Debrun, of Albany, was shaken up but uninjured. Debrun was treated at the scene for symptoms of shock. The driver of the other vehicle, Geddes was treated at a local hospital for abdominal pain.

Police say neither driver was at fault.
