The Oneida County Sheriff's Office and The Oneida County Child Advocacy Center partnered up once again to put alleged sex offenders behind bars.

Deputies with assistance from the Child Advocacy Center placed 19-year-old Brendan Clark of Rome under arrested following an investigation into an alleged Rape. Police say Clark had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 15. He has been charged with Rape in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony. Clark was arraigned in New York Mills Court and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail. The crime took place in the Town of Lee.

Meanwhile, The Oneida County Child Advocacy Center also assisted Sheriff's Deputies in the arrest of 65-year-old Barton Butler of Rome. Butler is charged with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child. The arrest stems from an investigation revealing Butler allegedly had sexual intercourse with a young girl under the age of 13 over a period of several years. Butler was living in Georgia and was arrested there. Butler waived extradition and was transported back to Oneida County where he was arraigned on the warrant. He has been placed in Oneida County Jail without bail.

Victims of both crimes have been offered counseling through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
