An inmate at the Oneida County Jail is facing an additional charge after filing a false report.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Luis Silvagnoli Jr. told deputies that he was sexually assaulted by another inmate several nights in a row inside the jail. An investigation into the allegations revealed evidence that Silvagnoli was not being truthful.

During the course of the investigation deputies realized inconsistencies with Silvagnoli's statement. Officials say the inmate that was accused of sexual abuse was in the same unit as Silvagnoli for only one night. In addition, the unit where Silvagnoli was being held was under constant Correction Officer supervision.

Silvagnoli was ultimately charged with making a false written statement and will appear in Whitestown Court at a later date to answer to the charge.
