The Oneida Indian Nation's "Change the Mascot" campaign took its argument to NFL officials at a meeting in New York City today.
Oneida Representative Ray Halbritter said he feels NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has the power to levy sanctions on Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.

Halbritter said the use of the term "Redskins" by Washington should be considered conduct detrimental to the NFL and Snyder should be forced to change the name or face sanctions by the league.

Halbritter added that although the take away from the meetings is that the NFL will continue support of the Redskins mascot he says the Oneidas will redouble their efforts and intend to continue the "Change the Mascot" campaign.

Neither Snyder or Goodell was at the meeting.
