An Oneida woman has been arrested on welfare fraud charges following an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

36-year old Samantha Baumeister is facing felony charges of grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing, along with a misdemeanor charge of perjury.

Baumeister allegedly provided false information about her total household income to the Madison County Department of Social Services while she was collecting public assistance.

Investigators say as a result, Baumeister received over $6,400in benefits from August 2015 to January 2017 which she was not eligible to receive.
