It's wasn't pretty, but it's a much needed win for the Syracuse Orange and possibly a kick start for a treacherous upcoming run against ACC foes.

Michael Gbinije's runner in the lane with under a second left capped a late rally, giving the Orange (15-7, 6-3 ACC) a 72-70 win after the trailing by 13 with six and a half minutes to play.

Gbinije finished with 18, as did Trevor Cooney. Despite his total of 18, Conney struggled from 3-point range shooting 2-12 from beyond the arc. Rakeem Christmas added 15 points and a dozen boards while Tyler Roberson snagged 11 rebounds.

The Hokies (9-13, 1-8 ACC) got 19 points from Justin Bibbs and 18 more from Jalen Hudson.

Syracuse will visit Pittsburgh and Boston College in the next week before beginning a stretch with includes five of six games against teams ranked in the top ten (No.4 Duke, No.9 Louisville, Pitt, No.10 Notre Dame, No.4 Duke and No.3 Virginia).
