The City of Utica and the union representing DPW workers have reached a new contract.

The eight-year agreement between the City and the Teamsters, which is retroactive to 2010, includes four years of 0% salary increases.and averages about a 1% raise  a year over the life of the contract.

The contract also mandates all new hires contribute 20% toward their total health insurance premiums.

In return, the DPW employees will get a two-percent salary increase from 2015 to 2017.

“Despite reduced staff our DPW workers continue to do a great job and provide vital services to our residents,” Mayor Robert Palmieri said.
