COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a husband has been arrested after he walked into the Albany-area beauty salon where his wife worked and started stabbing her.

The Times Union reports that the man attacked his wife at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday at a salon in Colonie.

Police Lt. Robert Winn says some salon employees tried to intervene while others ran outside and flagged down passers-by for help.

Winn says two good Samaritans were able to disarm the stabber and detain him until police arrived. The attacker had slashed himself in the neck.

The 49-year-old victim was treated at a hospital for serious stab wounds to her abdomen and arms.

The attacker was treated for a superficial neck wound. Police say his name will be released when he is formally charged.
