Port Leyden Woman Accused Of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child

A Port Leyden woman was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, after State Police said she used violence against a six year-old.

The investigation began when a babysitter noticed bruising on the child's face, and ended with the arrest of Shawna Ferris, 29, of North Street.

Ferris allegedly used exessive corporal punishment on the child.

State Police were assisted in the investigation by Lewis County Child Protective Services.
