Protesters Take To NYC Streets After No Indictment Of Officer Daniel Pantaleo
Protesters have stopped traffic on New York City's Westside Highway Wednesday night as hundreds have taken to the streets to protest the Supreme Court decision not to indict NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of Eric Garner.
Protesters have gathered at Rockefeller Center, Grand Central and on the West Side Highway among other locations, choking off traffic and disrupting the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center.
At Grand Central, some demonstrators have staged 'die-ins' where they lay motionless on the ground.
Reports say 'arrest wagons' are being requested in anticipation of the crowd turning ugly.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Eric Holder says the U.S. Justice Department will investigate the chokehold death of Eric Garner. Holder announced tonight the department will proceed with a federal civil rights investigation. He said he spoke to Garner's widow and told her of his decision to investigate potential federal civil rights violations. Holder promised an independent, thorough, fair and expeditious investigation.
