After scoring 29 runs in a three game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays, the Mets offense was held to just four hits by Cincinnati's Bronson Arroyo on Friday night as the Reds took the series opener 7-3 at Citi Field.

The Reds got an early second inning lead off of Dillion Gee - a Jay Bruce inside the park homer, then Todd Frazier scored due to a Scott Hairston error on Ryan Ludwick's double.

Brandon Phillips had two-run shot in third to make it 4-0 off Gee, who fell to 4-5 with six innings of five-hit, four-run ball.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis his is third homer in two days, a solo shot off of Arroyo (3-4) who collected the win allowing four hits and three runs through six.

Wilson Valdez had three of Cincy's 11 hits including a two-RBI double in the seventh and an RBI single in the ninth.

Scott Hairston had a pinch hit two run blast in the seventh inning, his ninth in just 120 at bats.
