The Capitol Arts Complex in Rome, which includes the Rome Capitol Theater and Cinema Capitol, has officially launched its Capital Campaign.

Funds collected will support the restoration of the historic theater, including the replication of the original 1928 marquee and renovations to a third building at the Complex.

The Capitol's total fundraising goal is $5.25 million, of which $3.75 million has already been raised.  The Capitol will be looking to raise the remaining $1.5 million from the public during the final portion of its capital fundraising.

Executive Director Art Pierce says nothing can revitalize a downtown area like an active performing arts center.

In 2018, the Capitol Arts Complex was chosen to receive $2.5 million  as part of Rome's $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
