Rome Fire Department Investigating West Thomas Street Fire
The Rome Fire Department is investigating a structure fire on W Thomas Street.
According to officials, the call came in just before 10 p.m. on Saturday. Smoke could be seen coming from the front door and 2nd floor window upon arrival.
As a result of the fire, multiple occupants were unable to escape from the 2nd floor and five people were rescued from the roof via ladders.
Two of the women rescued from the roof were transported to Rome Hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation and released. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was under control in less than 10 minutes.
