Senator Kirsten Gillibrand paid a visit to Rome on Monday.

Gillibrand toured the Air Force Research Lab and the DFAS office at the Griffiss Business Park.

Gillibrand says she wants to make sure that local jobs are protected and that the mission at DFAS continues to be met.

The Senator says she also had a chance to talk with DFAS employees to hear about their mission, how it’s been expanded over time and what can be done to meet those new missions efficiently.

She was joined by Rome Mayor Jackie Izzo, Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri and Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon.

Gillibrand is Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee.
