State Police Investigate Fatal Accident In Columbia

Columbia, NY (WIBX) - State Police say a Richfield Springs man was killed when his motorized wheelchair was hit by a car in the Herkimer County Town of Columbia.

Troopers say 49-year old George Hotaling entered Route 28 near the intersection of McKoons Road where he was struck a car driven by 64-year old Maureen Meyerhoff, also of Richfield Springs.

Hotaling was ejected from the wheelchair.

He was airlifted to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, where he died.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
