Albany, NY (WIBX) - New York's Court of Appeals is announcing that the new legislative lines drawn for the state will stand.

State Democrats are saying they are not discouraged and will use other legal challenges to have the new political maps overturned.

The plan adds a 63rd seat to the State Senate, and the court says Democrats have failed to prove that there is anything unconstitutional about it. Republicans are hopeful that they will occupy the new seat after the November elections.

Governor Cuomo has been criticized for making deals with Albany lawmakers to come up with the new lines in exchange for achieving concessions in this year's state budget.
