Statue Of Liberty Evacauted After Reports Of Suspicious Package [Update]

The Statue Of Liberty is being evacuated after reports of a suspicious package.

Video from Liberty Island shows visitors being evacuated. SWAT teams are on the scene.

The National Parks Service reports the package in question was discovered during routine security checks earlier today.

UPDATED 3:59 P.M.-   The all clear is being given after a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the Statue of Liberty.

Local media in New York is reporting the popular tourist attraction is set to reopen after the NYPD bomb squad conducted a security sweep of the area.  Earlier this afternoon, park police said Liberty Island was being evacuated as a precaution.

Video posted online showed hundreds of visitors waiting for ferries to take them across the Hudson.
