Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol is reminding anyone interested in a career with the Sheriff’s Office that here's still time to sign up to take an entrance exam.

Those interested in becoming a Deputy Sheriff have until July 26th to apply to take the exam. The exam will be given on September 14th.

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age on or before the date of the exam, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Deputy Sheriff is $40,626 and advances to 47,795 after successful completion of your initial required training.

The Correction Officer exam will be given on September 28th and the deadline to apply is August 9th.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before the date of appointment, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Correction Officer is $34,810 and advances to $40,953 after successful completion of the Basic Corrections Academy or after successfully completing six months of employment in the bargaining unit.
