Nick Swisher's third inning grand slam put the Yankees ahead and David Phelps and Derek Lowe quieted the Rangers' bats in an 8-2 Bronx win on Monday night.

Phelps (3-3) allowed two runs over five inning in his fourth start of the year. Lowe yielded two hits while striking four over four innings in his Yankee debut, which also earned him his first save in over a decade.

Swisher's slam, part of a five-RBI night, came off Ryan Dempster who's eight earned runs allowed on nine hits over six innings dropped him to 1-1 in three starts since coming to Texas from the Cubs.

Eric Chavez's hot bat had two hits - including a solo homer - with Raul Ibanez contributing two hits and a run scored.
