Two Central New York senior citizens were defrauded out of over $14,000 as a result of a scam New York State Police are calling the "Grandparent Scam" or "Family Emergency Scam."
The Town of Whitestown Police are warning residents of fraudulent activity going on in town. Police say, an elderly resident received a call from an unknown person claiming to be with a family member who was in urgent need of bail money.
Another new phone scam is popping up in Central New York. The Madison County Facebook page is warning residents to avoid phone calls on your caller ID that appear to be coming from the HHS OIG Hotline.
