While ‘Mission: Impossible 5’ was originally set to open this Christmas, just one week after the juggernaut that is ‘Star Wars’, Paramount has wisely thought this over and moved the new Ethan Hunt adventure up to this July.

Last we heard, three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson wasn't totally retired, but the 76-year old had become so choosy about his work that it's possible 2010's 'How Do You Know' could be his last feature film. Well, not if Tom Cruise has anything to say about it, as he's wooing Jack to star along with him in 'El Presidente' for his 'Edge of Tomorrow' director Doug Liman.

Though Tom Cruise may have gone through a rough patch in his career, that's now completely over as he's being brought back to star in 'Mission: Impossible 5' for Paramount. This has been rumored for a while, but it was confirmed today.

Tom Cruise and science fiction are a powerful combination. Although the opening weekend of 'Oblivion' didn't break any records big or small, it's a more than solid start for a non-franchise, non-sequel, non-reboot. That's a sad statement on the current state of Hollywood, but that's another topic for another day.
