MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island teen charged with stabbing another girl to death during a scuffle has been acquitted of all charges by jurors.

Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/2kpfssN) that jurors on Tuesday found 18-year-old Jasmine Copeland, of Freeport, not guilty of several charges including manslaughter in the 2014 death of 17-year-old Abbigale Thomas.

Prosecutors said Copeland and Nubian Middleton, one of Thomas' foster sisters, exchanged taunts over Facebook and through texts. The virtual barbs eventually led to a physical confrontation when Thomas, her two foster sisters, and another girl walked to Middleton's house.

Authorities say Copeland was armed with a knife when she and three friends argued with the other group. Thomas was stabbed in the ensuing altercation.

The defense argued that blood would have soiled Copeland's clothes if she had used the knife she admitted to carrying.
