Teen Convicted Of Killing NY Man, 62, Setting Body On Fire

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — A northern New York teenager who stabbed a 62-year-old man dozens of times before setting his body on fire has been found guilty of second-degree murder.

WWNY-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2iNo072 ) a Jefferson County Court jury also convicted 19-year-old Kyle Box of West Carthage on assault and arson charges Wednesday.

The jury rejected his claims that he acted in self-defense when he stabbed Randy Bent inside his Watertown home in March 2015. Authorities say Box stabbed Bent 46 times before setting him on fire.

Box, a former Texas resident, was living with his mother in Carthage, near Watertown, at the time.

Prosecutors say they never established a motive for the slaying, which they say occurred after the two men had sex.

Box faces 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced March 3.
