The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is reporting a train has derailed near Route 5 in the village of Fonda Thursday (6/27). According to reports at least a dozen cars fell off the train rail, and cargo is now on the road.

The train cars derailed around 8AM. Fire, EMS and hazmat crews are on the scene. According to News10 ABC out of Albany, residents in the immediate area have been notified but are not being evacuating at this time.

At least a dozen cars fell off the train rail, spilling cargo including soil and rice in the road. Traffic is being rerouted on Route 5 between Fonda and the Palatine Bridge.
