Tractor Trailer Rollover Shuts Down Traffic on Route 49 for Hours

A Tractor Trailer rollover accident caused a slight traffic delay over the weekend.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Maciol, the accident occurred Saturday just after 3 p.m. at the Route 12 exit from Route 49.

The tractor trailer driver, Jeffery Chalmers, stated he was driving in the left lane of Route 49 when he noticed he was about to miss his exit.

He then attempted to turn onto the exit crossing over three lanes of traffic at a high rate of speed and lost control. The Tractor Trailer then turned over causing minor injuries to Chalmers.

He was cited for unsafe speed and moving from a lane unsafely. The accident shut traffic down in one lane on Route 49 and Exit 12 for several hours while removing the tractor trailer.
