Troops To Teachers Program

There is a program available to assist veterans in the process of becoming teachers.

Elizabeth Murray, is the program assistant for the Northeast, with an office based in West Chester, PA.

• helps troops make the transition to the very rewarding career of teaching
• A resource network for veterans, including the Give An Hour program, made up of psychologists and counselors
• can assist anyone who has served honorably, providing financial assistance and advice for obtaining certification (Four years active or six years in the reserve are eligible for financial assistance)

Murray says there is the perception that there aren't many teaching positions out there. She says there have been cuts to many public school, but says she finds hundreds of open positions. What differentia, and veterans who can excel in classroom management have a high exposure to diversity, are more qualified than average citizens.
