Two women are facing charges after allegedly bilking more than $12,000 from the Department of Social Services.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says Amey Suwarrow, 28, of South New Berlin, and Gertrude Bullock, 64, of Mount Upton, were arrested after filing false documents to the agency.

From November 2010 until April of 2012, Suwarrow and Bullock submitted day care time sheets resulting in overpayments.

They are charged with Welfare Fraud and Offering a false instrument for filing.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Department of Social Services Fraud Investigation Unit.
