Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Bernie Bus monitor alerted Utica Police to a potentially dangerous situation last Friday afternoon. According to police, the school bus was dropping off a 4-year old in front of the child's Minot Place residence and when the child's father failed to come outside, the bus monitor walked the child into the home.

According to authorities, once inside, the bus monitor spoke to the child's father, 31-year old Gary Kingsley then left the residence.  Moments later, the four-year old was seen exiting the residence teary-eyed and afraid, prompting the bus monitor to call police.

When UPD arrived, officers say they discovered numerous illegal drugs within the home - crack, pills, marijuana and a bag of cocaine.

Kingsley was arrested on felony drug possession charges and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Police say at the time of his arrest, Kinglsey appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol, with his 2-year old daughter asleep in a crib.  Child Protective Services turned over both children to family members.
