Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police are asking the public for help locating the person or persons responsible for stealing several manhole covers in the city. They say the incident occurred last weekend. Police suspect that the manhole covers were stolen to resell as scrap metal.

The Department of Public Works say the covers were stolen from Kemble and Dickerson Streets, Howe Street and Emerson Avenue, Parkside Court and Holland Avenue and on the 1900 block of Baker Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to contact UPD at (315) 223-3584. All calls or tips will remain anonymous. The cost to replace each manhole cover? According to officials, $400.
