ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A hospital in Westchester County has finished work on a solar power array that state officials say will save $96,000 a year in energy costs.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office announced the completion of the project on Thursday. The state contributed $358,000 toward the work at the Montrose VA Medical Center.

The money is part of a broader $1 billion effort by the state to expand the use of solar power and meet Cuomo's goal of generating half of New York state's power from renewable sources by 2030.

The state says New York has seen a nearly 600 percent increase in solar capacity in the last four years.
