What is it like to come to America to play hockey?

That was the theme of the latest Mohawk Valley Community College Cultural Series that hosted three Utica Comets on Wednesday night.

Director of Institutional Advancement at MVCC and Co-Founder of the Comets Frank DuRoss says the event gave students and community members the chance to learn about where some of Utica's hockey stars came from.

Andrey Pedan, Peter Andersson and Joacim Eriksson told the audience about their transition to the U.S. and answered questions about their time in the area, and what their favorite things about Central New York are.

Defenseman Andrey Pedan has been in the U.S. for about two years, but came to Utica two months ago when he was traded. He says while Utica is a lot smaller than his native Moscow, he likes the people, the excitement behind Comets hockey and he says he has enjoyed his time here.

Pedan added that one of his favorite things about the U.S. is the variety of chocolate bars here compared to in Russia, but teammate Joacim Eriksson stole the show when he told the crowd his favorite American food is chicken wings.
