The City of Utica Common Council voted last night to take no action on this year's proposed budget.

Common Council members voted unanimously to not propose any amendments to the budget.

The budget will now revert back to Mayor Robert Palmieri's original budget, complete with a nearly 9% tax rate increase.

Fourth Ward Councilman Joe Marino says the Council chose to do so because they believe the city's finances are errant and there has been no audit done on the budget or the city's financial situation.

The Common Council also voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Palmieri to apply for financial help for the City of Utica from the State Financial restructuring board, which Marino says can provide real answers to Utica's financial problems in the near future.
