Utica Man Facing Several Charges Following Fight With Girlfriend

Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man is facing numerous charges after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face.

Utica Police say they were called to the Big Lots in North Utica, where a woman told them she got into an argument with her boyfriend because she wouldn't buy him more beer and he hit her.

The man fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police say they found 40-year old Joseph Safin fighting with the woman's father at Harbor Lock Road and North Genesee Street.

Safin was charged with harassment, unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of an open container of alcohol and criminal possession of a weapon.
