Utica Police Say A Cell Phone App Helped Them Located Three Purse Snatchers

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Technology inside of a stolen cell phone is being credited with helping track down three would-be purse snatchers.

Police say after three Utica women allegedly took another woman's purse from the Strut Bar early Sunday morning, a mobile app on the victim's phone - which was in the purse - helped track the suspects who had already left the bar.

It was the Find My IPhone App that helped pinpoint the suspects' location.

Brittany Surace, 23, Angela Tublewicz, 26, and 18 year old Ashley Kroll, all of Utica have been charged with grand larceny, and an additional charge of possession of marijuana.

Kroll was also ticked for underage possession of alcohol and for having an open container inside a vehicle.
