Utica Rome Unemployment Rate Falls In August

The local area unemployment rates for August are out and it's good news for the Utica-Rome area.

The New York State Department of Labor says the local jobless rate was 4.9%  last month.  That's down from 5.7% in August of last year.

The statewide unemployment rate was 5.2 percent in August, its lowest level since May 2008.

The State’s private sector job count increased by 163,000, from August 2014 to August 2015. In August 2015, the number of private sector jobs in the State was 7,810,300.
