Water Main Break In New York Mills, Boil Water Advisory In Effect

A large water main break in New York Mills has New Hartford Street and Commercial Drive shut down while crews work to repair the line.

Commercial Drive is closed between Panera Bread and the New Hartford/Whitestown line in both directions.

Henderson Street is closed between the New Hartford/Whitestown line to Clinton Street in New York Mills.

Clinton, New Hartford Street and surrounding side streets are also affected, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

The Mohawk Valley Water Authority says the break is affecting a large area and a Boil Water Advisory is in effect from 44 to 117 New Hartford Street, and in Whitestown around Wilcox Road.

The Water Authority says it is not clear when the roads will be re-opened as crews are fighting to clear ice and water from the area.

New Hartford Police are once again urging drivers to avoid the area because they say it is not passable.
