The Westmoreland Town Pool will open this Saturday for the first time in five years.

The pool, officially named the Anna Kunz Memorial Pool, had fallen into disrepair and needed extensive work, including patch work inside the pool, painting, new pipes and infrastructure underground, along with similar maintenance work on the pool buildings, according to Ron Klopfanstein, the facilities PR head, official say.

Through a series of fundraisers, organizers were able to raise over $80,000, and Senator Joe Griffo was able to secure another $60,000 in state money to pay for the work.

The grand re-opening celebration begins Saturday at noon. It is open to the public and is free this Saturday. Klopfanstein says going forward pool-goers will be charged a daily admission fee. Memberships will also be available.

The pool has been closed since 2014.
