SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 70-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Syracuse street late at night.

Officials say officers were called around 10:40 p.m. Monday to the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Teall and Burnet avenues. When officers arrived they found an injured woman and the driver of the vehicle.

Police say the woman, Mary Grant of Syracuse, was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where she died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say it appears she was walking home when she was hit.

Police say the 33-year-old Syracuse man driving the car had the green light while Grant was crossing the street.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
