Woman Turns Self In After UPD Post Video Of Liquor Theft

Utica, NY (WIBX) - In less then 24 hours after using its social media outlet to report a crime, Utica Police apprehended the suspect wanted for Petit Larceny. A woman wanted for stealing a bottle of booze from City Liquors turned herself in to Utica Police today. According to officials, 28 year old Christina Penn of Storrs Avenue in Utica was caught taking the item on security camera. After police posted the video of the theft on its YouTube and Facebook accounts, the suspect turned herself in.

Penn told police that she saw the video of the crime on the social networking websites, which prompter her to come clean according to the police report. Officials say the suspect was booked on an unrelated Menacing charge for an incident that occurred on February 7, 2011, as well as the Petit Larceny charge she now faces for the theft at City Liquors in Utica yesterday.
