What do you want to see developed at Woodhaven/Wright Park Manor in Rome? Now is your chance to have your voice heard.

Originally, these homes were beautiful and full of families at Woodhaven Park part of the former Griffiss Air Force Base. Once the base closed in 1995, the need for base housing ended. Families moved on to other assignments, and the houses lay abandoned.

Back in June, we talked to Mayor Jacqueline Izzo of Rome talking about the future of this area:

The City Of Rome wants your input on what should come to this location. Two workshops are going to be held on Thursday February 9th from 11:30am – 1:30pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the MVCC Rome Campus Multi-Purpose Room 150. What would you like to see?

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reimagine this neighborhood and forge new connections to Griffiss Business and Technology Park. These properties, totaling more than 100 acres between Floyd Ave and Park Drive, have plagued East Rome for two decades. Demolition of the Park Drive structures is planned for Summer 2017, which will open the door to a spectrum of redevelopment opportunities. The City has partnered with MVEDGE and RIDC to begin the masterplanning and environmental review process, and would like to kick-off the effort with public input.

You can submit your input HERE.

Once again, DO NOT ENTER Woodhaven Park. There is a strict no trespassing law enforced, and you will deal with the police if you enter the park. Do Not Go In.
