Workshops Held On Redevelopment Of Woodhaven Property In Rome

"Rethink Woodhaven" is the topic of two workshops being held today on the revitalization of the former Woodhaven and Park Drive Estates in Rome.

Christian Mercurio, Vice President of Planning and Development at Mohawk Valley EDGE, which is working with the City of Rome on the project, says public input is being sought on a vision for redevelopment of the 100 acre property located between Floyd Avenue and Park Drive..

Mercurio says they're looking to identify what some of the preferred uses for the property could be or what's most valuable to the neighborhood and the business community.

He says they've already taken nearly 50 comments on a public comment site that was just launched on Wednesday.

Demolition of the Park Drive structures is planned for this summer.

A second workshop will take place this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Mohawk Valley Community College Rome campus.
