ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York State Writers Institute has scheduled a symposium this fall on fake news, journalism, social media and politics.

The two-day symposium in Albany will feature more than two dozen panelists. They include CBS News anchor and presidential debate moderator Bob Schieffer, two former executive directors of The New York Times, the editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post and The New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush.

There will also be prominent attorneys, scholars and authors who will discuss the role of social media when it comes to fake news, relationships between presidents and the press and cybersecurity.

It will be held Oct. 13-14 at the University at Albany's downtown campus.
